Welcome to my Little Northern Kitchen.
Firstly, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself and my family. My name is Rachel and I turned 30 last year, that was a bit of a shock I can tell you! I gave birth to my little boy in January 2019 my pregnancy was anything but straight forward but I may decide to do a blog about that at a later stage. His name is Elliot and he is just amazing!
I married the love of my life in June 2014 but we’ve been together since 2006 (college sweethearts). Tim is my absolute rock I don’t know what I’d do without him most days, I’m a very lucky woman.
I am a qualified Dispensing Optician and I’m currently working 4 days a week. Elliot goes to nursery for 3 days. It’s very hard to be back at work and leave Elliot but he absolutely loves nursery so for that I am VERY thankful.
Elliot has not had the most straight forward start to life and amongst a scary illness when he was 10 weeks he also has quite bad allergies to both dairy and egg and we think he’s intolerant to soy as well. So, I wanted to write a blog that would help other people in my situation or similar. I am a breastfeeding Mum and so to continue on that journey I had to give up dairy and egg as well as little Elliot which has been a tough journey as I am THE biggest cheese fiend EVER!
I will aim to write 1 blog post a week about various things to do with food, allergies, babies, being a mother and just general life and it’s hurdles. I will upload as many allergy friendly recipes as I can which will hopefully help those of you who have allergies yourselves or cater for family with allergies.
